Segmentations
Target the right audience with advanced segmentation tools. Create dynamic segments based on contact properties, behavior, and engagement.
What are Segments?
Segments are dynamic groups of contacts that match specific conditions. They automatically update as contacts meet or no longer meet the criteria, ensuring you always target the right audience.
Creating Segments
Build segments using conditions:
- Navigate to Segments in your dashboard
- Click "Create Segment"
- Give your segment a name and description
- Add conditions (e.g., "Tag equals 'VIP'", "City equals 'New York'")
- Combine conditions with AND/OR logic
- Choose auto-update or manual update mode
- Save your segment
Segment Conditions
Create segments based on various criteria:
Contact Properties
- • Email address
- • First name / Last name
- • Company
- • City / Country
- • Custom fields
Tags & Lists
- • Has specific tag
- • In specific list
- • Not in list
- • Multiple tags
Engagement

- • Clicked link
- • Not opened email
- • Engagement rate
Date-Based
- • Created date
- • Last activity date
- • Date ranges
Auto-Update vs Manual
Choose how your segment updates:
Auto-Update
Segment automatically updates as contacts meet or no longer meet conditions. Perfect for dynamic targeting.
Manual
Segment is updated manually. Use when you want to control when contacts are added or removed.
Using Segments
Segments can be used in:
- Campaigns: Send campaigns to specific segments
- Automations: Trigger automations when contacts enter/leave segments
- Analytics: Analyze performance by segment
- Targeting: Focus your marketing efforts on specific groups
Best Practices
- Use descriptive segment names that clearly indicate the criteria
- Start with simple conditions and add complexity as needed
- Test segments with small campaigns before sending to large groups
- Regularly review and update segment conditions
- Use auto-update segments for dynamic targeting
